Attention!! Grade 8 Aspiring Poets!

Definitely Superior Artist-Run-Centre & Gallery and Thunder Bay Public Library co-present

Random Acts of Poetry
Thunder Bay Performance Project
Monday October 2nd to Sunday October 8th, 2006.

Inspired by the International Random Acts of Poetry iniative, the Random Acts of Poetry Thunder Bay Performance Project promotes poetry, art, and literacy in a refreshing way to ordinary people in their everyday lives.

Local poets will be performing Random Acts of Poetry at all four branches of the Thunder Bay Public Library and other locations in Thunder Bay during the week.

As part of our celebration we invite all Grade 8 students to enter our poetry contest. The 2006 "RAP" Poets or "word construction crew" will be the judges for this exciting poetry contest in order to mentor and inspire our city's "future young artists"!

Poems may be handed in during Random Acts of Poetry Week (Oct. 2-8, 2006) at any Thunder Bay Public Library Branch. There is a limit of one poem per student and it must be on paper, typed or handwritten. Three winners will be announced to the public on November 20th at a Random Acts of Poetry Gala and Reading in the Brodie Fireside Reading Room at 7:00 pm.

Winners will be invited to read their poetry at the gala and have their poem published in the 2nd annual Random Acts of Poetry publication. (Note: Winners will be contacted one week before the Gala.)
